Climate matters

I began my professional career working for a company that primarily sold to the Oil & Gas and Petrochemical sectors. As I progressed in my career and MBA studies, I realized there were greater growth opportunities in the transition to clean energy. This led me to believe that there was going to be a massive need for investments to shift the world’s energy to truly make an impact and lower greenhouse gas emissions. This meant there would be new opportunities for innovative companies to develop and bring to market new technologies that will help make this transition a reality. I am happy and proud to be part of the ecosystem as an Investor that will help seed-stage start-ups scale up their businesses and make a true impact.

Additionally, Gary has 7 years of prior operational experience at Velan, an industrial manufacturer, taking on roles within their Engineering and Strategic Planning departments. He was responsible for building and supporting the company’s five-year plan for senior management and the board of directors.

Climate matters

My love for nature and being outdoors has brought to my attention the effects that climate change is having on our environment. The science is undisputable and a dramatic reduction in greenhouse gas emissions is required within the next decade for us to meet our net zero targets and stop irreversible climate damage on our planet. This has made me passionate about taking action and being part of the solution in some way. Blue Vision Capital allows me to do this as my role is to review investment opportunities that potentially allow for meaningful GHG reductions, combining my interests for both the environment and investing.

Professional Pedigree

James brings 4 years of investment experience including 2 years at Walter Capital Partners where he worked on the private equity team. This allowed him to develop valuable skills in understanding what makes a good investment and how to value a business. Prior to this, James did internships in investment banking and private equity at firms such as BMO Capital Partners, PSP Investments and BDG & Partners. During his undergrad, James was a part of the Kenneth Woods Portfolio Management Program where he was part of a select group of students that actively invested and managed a fund now worth over $5 million.

Climate matters

I grew up in a city of 45,000 people. The city’s two largest employers were the C.I.L. paint factory and the Domtar Pulp & Paper Mill, where my grandfather worked. The pollution in the city was intense. The river’s fish population was damaged. The air smelled horribly following the direction of the wind. The factories’ massive chimneys incessantly emitted black smoke.
